Goals 2 & 3: International Relations Mapping
Our second major initiative is a targeted pilot program designed to map and identify the international relationships of participating local government councils.
The Pilot Phase
Starting with an initial council profile, our committee is analyzing the general spectrum of its international connections. This process looks beyond formal, government-to-government sister city agreements to encompass community-level relationships, including local clubs, healthcare facilities, schools, Smart City initiatives, and strategic trade agreements.
The Local Roundtable Process
This mapping process is driven by independent, community-level roundtables, bringing together local residents, business leaders, and educators. This collaborative approach is designed to generate an ongoing forum for local ideas, giving the community a dedicated platform to actively engage in shaping its international future.
Intended Strategic Outcomes
The data and insights gathered from this pilot project are intended to inform the ongoing voluntary functions of the Sister Cities Roundtable. Ultimately, the initiative aims to offer:
- Targeted Assistance: Tailored, advisory support for councils and regional areas seeking to better understand and manage their international ties.
- A Strategic Roadmap: Broad, non-binding pathways for local businesses looking to connect, trade, and network through established international opportunities.
