The Resonance Project
Our forthcoming initiatives are directly aimed at supporting our core goals of cultural exchange and economic development. Inspired by the Hajimari Project—a compelling initiative originally launched by Sister Cities International to document the unique origin stories of US-Japan relationships—the first major project by the Sister Cities Roundtable is provisionally targeted to launch in June 2027, subject to all preliminary conditions and milestones being met.
This initiative will utilise human-directed, generative AI technologies as an interpretive medium. Our team will combine these tools with historical research to create rich, ethically compiled audio-visual expressions. These creative works are designed to explore, interpret, and celebrate the historical and modern relationships between Australian and international sister cities, highlighting the power of citizen diplomacy and shared history.
Community-Led Cultural Exchanges
Building directly upon the foundation of this project, we plan to integrate new, community-led cultural visits between the featured sister cities. By understanding the deep-rooted stories and connections mapped in the first phase, our goal is to curate highly relevant, people-to-people exchanges. These visits are intended to move beyond ceremonial events, allowing local residents, artists, and community leaders to travel and engage in meaningful, modern cultural diplomacy with their international counterparts.
Driving Global Business and Trade Forums
To ensure these relationships yield tangible economic benefits, a pilot program is envisioned with our sister cities, drawing inspiration from successful global business initiatives and trade missions. Utilising our local survey system, we intend to work alongside representatives to map their internal connections with Australian partners. This data will lay the groundwork for International Roundtable Forums connecting Australian cities. By integrating business and trade into the cultural and civic framework established in the first two phases, we aim to create robust, sustainable economic pipelines.
